Samaritan Help Mission

Over the last two decades, Samaritan Help Mission, a secular non-profit organization, is working in the slums of Tikiapara, and Bankra, Howrah to build awareness and empower the underprivileged, especially children, girls and women and enable them by generating employment opportunities through quality formal education, skill development trainings and proper healthcare services. It aims for long-term solutions to these prevailing issues. Their approaches are centered on building healthy and self-sufficient communities. The motto of the organization is “HELP PEOPLE BASED ON NEED, NOT ON CREED”. For education of the underprivileged children and to strengthen the community it established English medium schools, day care health center besides mobile health care services, center for accessing financial services, safe drinking water plant and skill development training center. At present almost 5581 students are studying in SHM run schools and a large number of helpless women engaged in income generating activity after obtaining industrial training on tailoring. Almost 2500 patients have been attending day care health centers and mobile health centers every month. In addition, a considerable number of young adults are attending vocational training in different trades. Community is developing resilience steadily to overcome adversities and all the negative practices are reducing steadily.
