Sense International India

Sense International India, or Sense India, established in 1997, is the first NGO dedicated to supporting individuals with deaf blindness and multiple disabilities in India. They have provided services to over 80,000 deafblind children through 60 partner NGOs across 23 states. Sense India’s advocacy efforts led to the recognition of "Deafblindness" in the Rights of Persons with Disability Act 2016, ensuring their rights are protected. Their impact extends beyond Indian borders, as they actively collaborate with esteemed organisations in Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Maldives, and Malaysia to train educators and establish services that cater to the needs of the deafblind. They have also Influenced policy by advocating for the inclusion of Rubella vaccination in the Universal Immunization Programme. Accredited by the United Nations, Sense India played a vital role in empowering individuals with deaf blindness and holds consultative status on deaf blindness. Through their comprehensive approach, Sense India continues to transform lives, advocating for the rights, empowerment, and inclusion of individuals with deaf blindness in India and beyond.
